Orange County Government\u2019s Fleet Management Division has been named a Top 50 Leading Fleet in North America in 2019 by Government Fleet<\/a><\/em> magazine and the American Public Works Association<\/a>. This makes it four years in a row that Orange County Government has earned this distinction.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis type of recognition means a great deal to everyone in the Fleet Management Division because we work hard to ensure we\u2019re ready to serve all the residents of Orange County,\u201d said Bryan Lucas, manager, Orange County Fleet Management. \u201cThere are many top-notch fleet management operations out there, so being recognized as one of the finest in North America is quite an honor.\u201d<\/p>\n

Orange County Fleet Management provides vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair services, fuel operations, and after-hours service to a wide range of customers in Orange County Government. It is responsible for maintenance and repair of more than 1,930 vehicles and 1,900 off-road\/heavy equipment assets for Orange County. It also operates the County\u2019s 14 automated fuel sites that dispensed more than 2.5 million gallons of unleaded and diesel fuel last fiscal year.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur hard-working technicians, welders\/machinist and service writers, as well as those in our parts, fuel operations and fiscal management sections, are the individuals who really make things happen and keep Orange County hitting the road to serve the public,\u201d added Lucas.<\/p>\n

Government Fleet<\/em> magazine\u2019s 50 Leading Fleets represent the best in the industry. The awards program, sponsored by Ford and Geotab, recognizes operations that are performing at a high level, particularly in fleet leadership, competitiveness and efficiency, planning for the future, and overcoming challenges. The evaluation standards are divided into several key categories: Fleet Composition,\u00a0Fuel & Emissions, Policy & Planning, Fleet Utilization,\u00a0Education, Executive & Employee Involvement and supporting programs: including applying for grants and maintenance facility improvements.<\/p>\n
