The certification demonstrates a commitment by a restaurant to the environment and waterways, to reduce the plastic footprint.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehiltonorlando.com\/dine\/davids-club.html\">David\u2019s Club Bar &amp; Grill<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehiltonorlando.com\/dine\/spencers\/\">Spencer\u2019s for Steaks and Chops<\/a> have met the following mandatory criteria:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-13350 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/newsroom.ocfl.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Pollution-Prevention-story-Spencers-photo-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Entrace of Spencer's restaurant\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/newsroom.ocfl.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Pollution-Prevention-story-Spencers-photo-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/newsroom.ocfl.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Pollution-Prevention-story-Spencers-photo-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/newsroom.ocfl.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Pollution-Prevention-story-Spencers-photo-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/newsroom.ocfl.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Pollution-Prevention-story-Spencers-photo-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/newsroom.ocfl.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Pollution-Prevention-story-Spencers-photo-2048x1536.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/newsroom.ocfl.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Pollution-Prevention-story-Spencers-photo-600x450.jpg 600w, https:\/\/newsroom.ocfl.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Pollution-Prevention-story-Spencers-photo-785x589.jpg 785w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>No Styrofoam use<\/li>\n<li>No plastic bags for takeout orders<\/li>\n<li>No straws provided, unless requested by a guest<\/li>\n<li>Guests provided with reusable tableware<\/li>\n<li>Local recycling practices followed<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cAligning ourselves with the requirements was really quite easy,\u201d said Hilton Orlando\u2019s Director of Food &amp; Beverage Justin Garner. \u201cPollution prevention has always been a strong focus of ours.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the Surfrider Foundation requires that its restaurants meet at least two additional ocean friendly criteria from a list of five choices. Both David\u2019s and Spencer\u2019s met <em>all five <\/em>elective criteria:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All seafood is \u201cBest Choice\u201d or \u201cGood Alternative\u201d as defined by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.seafoodwatch.org\/\">Seafood Watch<\/a>, or is certified as sustainable<\/li>\n<li>Vegetarian\/vegan food options offered on a regular basis<\/li>\n<li>Energy-efficiency measures in place, such as installing LED lighting and Energy Star appliances<\/li>\n<li>No beverages sold in plastic bottles<\/li>\n<li>Water conservation efforts incorporated, such as installing low-flow faucets and toilets<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As part of its <a href=\"https:\/\/nam02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com\/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fcr.hilton.com%2Ftoward2030%2F&amp;data=02%7C01%7CSarah.Dillon%40hilton.com%7C80a50b761fd34f790c2c08d78238ab8d%7C660292d2cfd54a3db7a7e8f7ee458a0a%7C0%7C0%7C637121052236750727&amp;sdata=1d9RWjTcSmx6L5wz8GYkr%2BI3L2i7ZdwByz1GuuuP2Zo%3D&amp;reserved=0\">2030 goals<\/a>, Hilton has committed to cutting its environmental footprint in half in the next decade.
