Today, Mayor Demings spoke with local media about the Governor’s \u201cSafe. Smart. Step-by-Step Plan\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Governor\u2019s plan \u2013 known as Phase One \u2013 is a sensible one. It allows for a \u2018soft\u2019 reopening for restaurants and retail establishments, while keeping schools operating on distance learning, and assisted living facilities remain closed to the public,\u201d said Mayor Demings.<\/p>\n
The Mayor mentioned that businesses can follow the Governor\u2019s Orders for opening on May 4. However, the Order does not preempt local government to come up with guidelines that work for their community. Mayor Demings also mentioned that some of the Order needs clarification on a local level. In addition, not all businesses can and\/or will be ready for opening on May 4.<\/p>\n
Orange County’s Economic Recovery Task Force<\/a> will continue to work to make sure guidelines are appropriate for our unique local economy. The Task Force is working hard to come up with recommendations that will help restart our businesses while keeping employees as well as our residents and visitors, safe.
