{"id":15749,"date":"2021-04-05T07:00:26","date_gmt":"2021-04-05T11:00:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsroom.ocfl.net\/?p=15749"},"modified":"2022-01-12T12:06:57","modified_gmt":"2022-01-12T17:06:57","slug":"orange-county-corrections-wins-high-accolades-from-the-american-correctional-association","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsroom.ocfl.net\/2021\/04\/orange-county-corrections-wins-high-accolades-from-the-american-correctional-association\/","title":{"rendered":"Orange County Corrections Wins High Accolades  from the American Correctional Association"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A team of three experienced auditors from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aca.org\/ACA_Prod_IMIS\/ACA_Member\/Home.aspx?hkey=08837e63-47fc-4a7a-b9c1-b803481ec936&amp;iSession=043d09d4bf5748f5957899f17f0bd549&amp;WebsiteKey=139f6b09-e150-4c56-9c66-284b92f21e51\">American Correctional Association (ACA)<\/a> spent three days \u2013 March 30 through April 1 \u2013 inspecting every facet of the <a href=\"https:\/\/netapps.ocfl.net\/BestJail\">Orange County Corrections Department<\/a>, and the results were quite impressive. OCCD received 100 percent on all mandatory standards and 99.36 percent on all non-mandatory standards. A total of 383 mandatory standards were reviewed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s one of the best facilities I\u2019ve been in,\u201d said Brian Neagle, audit chairperson, at the closing session. \u201cYour intake area is fantastic.\u201d Fellow auditor Maria Haynes echoed his praise. \u201cI had the pleasure of going around to areas like the armory and key control,\u201d she said. \u201cThe facility is phenomenal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Auditor Phillip R. Brown inspected the division\u2019s Health Services and gave \u201cbig kudos\u201d to the department. Brown also told Orange County Corrections Chief Louis A. Qui\u00f1ones, Jr. that he had a great team and to keep them going.<\/p>\n<p>In his closing remarks, Chief Qui\u00f1ones credited staff for an exemplary audit. \u201cWe simply couldn\u2019t do it without staff,\u201d he said. \u201cI can\u2019t tell you how proud I am to hear those numbers. The figures clearly demonstrate that hard work does pay off.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Deputy Chief Rickey Dumas complimented the ACA Audit Team. \u201cWith the vast experience you brought here, I knew we would get a thorough review.\u201d He added, \u201cIt\u2019s validating to have experienced and knowledgeable professionals from the outside come in and offer accolades for our facilities and operations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Deputy Chief Anthony D. Watts, Sr. reiterated his appreciation to the ACA auditors and commended their professionalism and respect. \u201cWe\u2019re grateful for your keen eye and experience,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>As the session wrapped up, Chief Qui\u00f1ones presented the Audit Team with a certificate of appreciation and a goodie bag. Chairman Neagle will be formulating a recommendation for reaccreditation, which will be reviewed by a panel at the ACA Conference in August in Nashville, Tennessee.<\/p>\n<p><em>Photo cutline: Orange County Corrections Chief Louis A.
