Demings and City of Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer declared Friday, December 3, 2021, as \u201cWalt Disney World Day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The proclamation took place at the Second Harvest Food Bank in Orlando, with Orange County officials, City of Orlando officials and executives from Walt Disney World Resort, including president Jeff Vahle, attending. It would not be an official celebration without superstars Mickey and Minnie Mouse there as well.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-17525 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/newsroom.ocfl.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/OCFL120321-0008-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/newsroom.ocfl.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/OCFL120321-0008-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/newsroom.ocfl.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/OCFL120321-0008-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/newsroom.ocfl.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/OCFL120321-0008-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/newsroom.ocfl.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/OCFL120321-0008-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/newsroom.ocfl.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/OCFL120321-0008-2048x1365.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/newsroom.ocfl.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/OCFL120321-0008-600x400.jpg 600w, https:\/\/newsroom.ocfl.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/OCFL120321-0008-785x523.jpg 785w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>On October 1 of this year, Walt Disney World launched its 50<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary celebration, called the \u201cWorld\u2019s Most Magical Celebration,\u201d to commemorate the milestone of opening its first theme park and resort in Central Florida back in 1971.<\/p>\n<p>Mayor Demings read a proclamation citing the tremendous role Walt Disney World has played in our community as one of the nation\u2019s largest single-site employers and host to more than 1.6 billion visitors from around the world. He also noted the significant tax benefits generated by Disney that contribute substantially to public safety, schools, roads and other infrastructures.<\/p>\n<p>Walt Disney World was also recognized for its generous charitable donations to the Central Florida community. In honor of its 50<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary, Disney announced it is granting more than $3 million to six non-profit organizations in Central Florida.
