The Florida Simulation Summit, themed \u201cTransforming Healthcare Through Intelligence Technologies\u201d was recently held in Orange County. Visionary leaders, pioneering researchers and innovative practitioners all gathered in Orlando to explore transformative healthcare and technologies that leverage modeling, simulation, and artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis year\u2019s theme reflects the growing importance of modeling, simulation and AI in improving patient outcomes and accelerating cutting-edge technologies in medical settings,\u201d said Orange County Mayor Jerry L. Demings. \u201cBy collaborating with our partners, we aim to share best practices and foster greater innovation improving patient care across the region.\u201d<\/p>\n

Keynote addresses included Leading Change: How to Stoke Curiosity and Joy in Healthcare AI Transformation,<\/em> presented by Rob Purinton, VP of Analytics and Performance Improvement, AdventHealth<\/a>; and Improving Patient and Provider Outcomes Through Simulation, Training and Education<\/em>, presented by Jude Tomasello, Program Manager for Medical Simulation and Training, Defense Health Agency<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The summit also featured engaging panel discussions with topics related to predictive intelligence for pandemic prevention; behavioral wellness and cognitive performance; sports medicine and the human experience; and the impact of artificial-intelligence in transforming our tri-county region.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\u201cHealthcare is always an important issue, as well as the training that healthcare professionals receive,\u201d said George Cheros, president and CEO, National Center for Simulation. \u201cThis summit is critical for those in the local modeling and simulation space who want to keep current with the state of medical simulation tech, whether those applications are toward civilians or the military.\u201d<\/p>\n

Now in its ninth year, the summit strives to highlight the strong progress, synergy and development of Central Florida’s multibillion-dollar Modeling, Simulation and Training (MS&T) industry. The region has been positioned as a hub for innovation and excellence, and the $6 billion MS&T industry at UCF\u2019s Central Florida Research Park<\/a> has not only enhanced the nation\u2019s defense capabilities but has also transformed life sciences, healthcare, sports, space, gaming and engineering.<\/p>\n

\u201cIts impact extends beyond financial statistics, as it serves as a catalyst for technological advancements and fosters collaboration among academia, government and private sectors,\u201d asserted Mayor Demings. \u201cBy coming together in forums like this, we reaffirm our collective commitment to building a future for healthcare as not just a goal but as a reality and to charting a course for a healthier and more equitable tomorrow.\u201d<\/p>\n

Orange County Government, in collaboration with Seminole and Osceola counties and the National Center for Simulation<\/a>, were the drivers behind the 2024 Florida Simulation Summit.<\/p>\n
