{"id":22954,"date":"2025-08-25T09:15:03","date_gmt":"2025-08-25T13:15:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsroom.ocfl.net\/?p=22954"},"modified":"2025-08-20T16:58:09","modified_gmt":"2025-08-20T20:58:09","slug":"orange-county-fleet-among-top-in-nation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsroom.ocfl.net\/2025\/08\/orange-county-fleet-among-top-in-nation\/","title":{"rendered":"Orange County Fleet Management Ranks Among Top in Nation with 2025 Leading Fleets Award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For the third time since 2020, Orange County\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.ocfl.net\/directory\/fleet-management-division\/\">Fleet Management Division<\/a> has earned national recognition for excellence \u2014 this year being ranked the #14 Leading Fleet in North America by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.government-fleet.com\/issues\">Government Fleet Magazine<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.apwa.org\/\">American Public Works Association<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.government-fleet.com\/10239022\/announcing-the-2025-leading-fleets\">Leading Fleets Award<\/a> is one of the most prestigious honors in the industry, open to all government fleet operations across the United States and Canada. Judged by a panel of government fleet experts, the award recognizes operations that demonstrate excellence in areas like efficiency, innovation, customer service and long-term vision.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re always trying to get better,\u201d said Bryan Lucas, manager of Orange County\u2019s Fleet Management Division. \u201cThis award shows that the things we\u2019ve implemented over the last few years are really moving us in the right direction \u2014 and being peer-judged, that means a lot.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fleet Management maintains more than 4,000 pieces of equipment for Orange County \u2014 including everything from sedans and ambulances to trailers, pumps and boats. It is a massive logistical operation, critical to keeping essential County services moving.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery County division depends on us in some way,\u201d said Lucas. \u201cWe\u2019re really in the customer service business. Whether it\u2019s Fire Rescue, Utilities or Parks \u2014 they all need reliable vehicles to serve our residents.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Despite ongoing challenges \u2014 including technician vacancies, storm-related downtime, and a complex, aging fleet \u2014Fleet Management has consistently improved performance and service delivery.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve made big strides in efficiency with fewer resources,\u201d asserted Lucas. \u201cTechnology has helped \u2014 especially our integrated fleet management software \u2014 but at the end of the day, it\u2019s our people. We\u2019ve got a great team committed to getting the job done.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The division has implemented a fully integrated system that manages everything from work orders and parts inventory to fuel usage and preventive maintenance. This streamlined approach not only improves service response times but also saves taxpayer dollars through smarter asset tracking and sustainable vehicle planning.<\/p>\n<p>Fleet also plays a leading role in the County\u2019s transition to cleaner energy, with electric vehicles and other sustainability initiatives becoming part of its long-term strategy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur mission is simple,\u201d explained Lucas. \u201cWe\u2019re here to make sure County departments have the vehicles and tools they need to do their jobs \u2014 safely, efficiently and cost-effectively.
