However, the warning is expected to expire later this afternoon. Residents may still experience light rain and wind gusts this evening.<\/p>\n<p>Orange County Government urges residents to adhere to the following safety messages:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Downed Power Lines: <\/strong>Residents can report downed power lines by dialing 9-1-1. Residents are urged to never approach, touch or drive over downed power lines. Always assume lines are electrified.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Inoperable Traffic Lights:<\/strong> Residents can report inoperable traffic lights by dialing 3-1-1 or 407-836-3111. Residents can learn more about what to do when they drive up to inoperable or malfunctioning traffic lights by visiting the <a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.ocfl.net\/2019\/08\/what-to-do-when-a-traffic-signal-is-inoperable\/?fbclid=IwAR2hiRP9aVM669TUR9TVoWDqDvWky7mc-2VuIb2yU9qJWuvTDxqUjKscHII\">county\u2019s online newsroom<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Emergency Shelters <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The general population shelter located at the West Orange Recreation Center has closed. Currently, the only general population shelter that is open in Orange County is located at South Econ Community Park.<\/p>\n<p>For more information about shelters, visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ocfl.net\/shelters\">ocfl.net\/shelters<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Solid Waste Collection and Facilities <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Orange County Landfill and Transfer Stations will reopen on Friday, Nov.11, at 8 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>Due to the storm, there were no residential collections on Thursday, Nov. 10, 2022. Customers whose regular collection day is Thursday will be picked up on Friday, Nov. 11, and Friday customers will be picked up on Saturday, Nov. 12.<\/p>\n<p>Households in unincorporated Orange County that did not have curbside collection on Wednesday will be serviced next Wednesday, Nov. 16. Those customers can put out extra garbage on their yard waste and large item collection day for pick up.<\/p>\n<p>Residents may continue to experience some delays with yard waste collection for the next few weeks. Additionally, it is important to remember that yard waste at the curb for regular service is limited to three cubic yards each week and must still be set out according to the guidelines, including limbs cut to three feet in length, tied, and each bundle under 60 pounds. Storm debris outside of these guidelines will be collected separately.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Public Works Pump Stations<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Orange County Public Works reports that all of its pump stations are operational and no major flooding has been reported.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lakes and Green Places<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The following updates were issued by Orange County\u2019s Parks and Recreation Division and Environmental Protection Division.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Boat Ramps:<\/strong> Orange County is issuing a precautionary lake advisory due to the storm. Due to rain, high lake levels may hide submerged debris that can cause damage or injury. All public boat ramps under the control of the county are closed. Residents are asked to refrain from any recreational activity and contact with water bodies until further notice. Boat ramps will remain closed until Orange County Parks and Recreation Division conducts an evaluation of each site. ID cards are not required to enter shelters. Individuals should come prepared with their own supplies and personal-hygiene items. Customers whose regular collection day is Thursday will be picked up Friday, Nov. 11, and Friday customers will be serviced Saturday, Nov. 12. No materials should be placed curbside on Thursday.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Solid Waste Facilities:<\/strong> The Orange County Landfill and transfer stations have closed as of 3 p.m. today and will remain closed through Thursday, Nov. 10. The facilities will reopen when conditions are safe to do so.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Debris Pick Up and Road Assessment<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Orange County Public Works plans to resume debris removal and emergency roadway clearance activities on Friday, Nov. 11, 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Public Works Road and Drainage workers are stationing crews in roads where flooding has been a problem in the past \u2013 Texas and Holden, Lake Eleanor, and Rouse and Buck Roads. This is being done as a precaution. A Hurricane Watch is in effect for the coastal Central Florida counties including Volusia and Brevard.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sandbags<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Orange County residents are urged to prepare now for this storm. The county will have four self-serve sandbag locations open on Tuesday, November 8, from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. These locations are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Downey Park \u2013 10107 Flowers Avenue, Orlando<\/li>\n<li>Fort Christmas Historical Park \u2013 1300 Fort Christmas Road, Christmas<\/li>\n<li>Clarcona Horse Park\/Clarcona Outpost \u2013 3535 Damon Road, Apopka<\/li>\n<li>Multicultural Center \u2013 7149 W. Colonial Drive, Orlando<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Residents will need to bring their own shovels and will be provided up to 10 bags to fill. Residents must also provide a valid photo ID with an Orange County address.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Debris<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Orange County Utilities and Public Works have been working around the clock since Hurricane Ian to remove yard waste and storm debris from resident\u2019s yards. To date, more than 150,000 cubic yards of debris has been picked up in the county.<\/p>\n<p>There is more debris still needing to be collected. Residents are asked if they still have debris in their yards to try and keep it from washing down the storm drains. Please get debris off the streets and onto the front yards, away from the street.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Schools<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Orange County Public Schools are closely monitoring the storm with the National Weather Service and the Orange County Office of Emergency Management.
