Shelter Invites Public to \u201cFurry Fall Festival\u201d and \u201cBarktoberfest\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

\"OrangeOrange County, Fla.\u00a0\u2013 <\/strong>Orange County Animal Services (OCAS) has announced two upcoming fall events. The first is the shelter\u2019s annual \u201cFurry Fall Festival\u201d followed by its annual \u201cBarktoberfest.\u201d Both events provide an opportunity for the community to meet available pets and become more familiar with OCAS services and programs.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese are the two major events we excitedly plan and look forward to each year,\u201d said Diane Summers, manager for Orange County Animal Services. \u201cThis year they fall within the same week, which will be double the excitement for anyone who loves animals.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Furry Fall Festival is set to take place on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, from 2 p.m. through 6 p.m. The event was founded five years ago\u00a0 to celebrate the life of former Animal Services Officer Joey Campo<\/a>, who passed away in 2017.<\/p>\n

The event takes place at Orange County Animal Services near the Mall at Millenia and will waive adoption fees for all available pets. Food trucks, music, and Halloween-themed entertainment will also be provided.<\/p>\n

\u201cFurry Fall Festival is a staff favorite event, with many of us dressing up and taking an opportunity to enjoy the Halloween holiday and time with one another,\u201d said Summers. \u201cLast year\u2019s event resulted in 34 pets finding new homes so we\u2019re hoping to best that.\u201d<\/p>\n

The shelter\u2019s rescue appreciation event, Barktoberfest, turns 10 this year and takes place on Sunday, October 29, 2023, at Lake Eola, adjacent to the Farmers\u2019 Market, from 12 p.m. through 4 p.m.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt has been such a blessing to watch Barktoberfest grow year after year,\u201d said Summers. \u201cThis is our chance to illuminate the relationship between Animal Services and the rescue community, and to drive the message home that lifesaving is accomplished as a team effort, with these rescue groups needing adopters, foster homes and donations to continue to thrive.\u201d<\/p>\n

Barktoberfest offers pets available for adoption from various rescue groups, resulting in the availability of several different breeds, ages, and sizes.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s the perfect adoption event for anyone considering adding a pet to their family,\u201d said Summers. \u201cYou\u2019re sure to find your right match if you come with an open heart.\u201d<\/p>\n

Barktoberfest offers free rabies vaccines and microchipping to the public via the Animal Services mobile clinic, plus food trucks, entertainment for children, pet-related vendors and a complimentary photo booth.<\/p>\n
