County approves funding for two affordable multi-family projects that include over one hundred units for seniors<\/em><\/p>\n

Orange County, Fla. <\/strong>\u2013 The Orange County Board of County Commissioners has approved financing for two affordable housing projects on the County\u2019s west side that will provide rental housing for mixed-income and senior renters.<\/p>\n

The Board approved up to $13.5 million in Housing Revenue Tax Exempt Bonds to purchase and rehabilitate Silver Lakes Villages Apartments. The existing 104-unit apartment complex is in the Rosemont area and offers housing for low-income seniors (62 years and older).<\/p>\n

The Board also approved providing $9.3 million of Affordable Housing Trust Fund and American Rescue Plan Funds for Barnett Villas, a 156-unit, affordable rental housing complex to be built near Barnett Park. It is anticipated to be completed by October 2024.<\/p>\n

The Housing for All Task Force was convened in 2019 to provide practical and long-term solutions to the affordable housing crisis. Since then, Orange County has made the implementation of recommendations from the task force a top priority, with a focus on affordable senior housing.<\/p>\n
