Hours Extended and Adoption Fees Reduced<\/em><\/p>\n

\"OrangeOrange County, FL<\/strong> \u2013 Orange County Animal Services (OCAS) announced today that it will be hosting a St. Patrick\u2019s Day adoption event on Sunday, March 17, 2024. The shelter will be extending the adoption hours to 7 p.m. and reducing all pet adoption fees to $17 for the day.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve been watching so many wonderful dogs sit here for weeks or months unnoticed. We know they would be a lucky charm for the right family. So, we invite people to wear green and come to our shelter,\u201d said Diane Summers, manager for Orange County Animal Services.<\/p>\n

Lincoln (A538798)<\/a> is one such dog. The 5-year-old dog arrived at the shelter on December 18, 2023 and has been overlooked since, despite his friendly demeanor. One might say he is a \u201cclover\u201d not a fighter!<\/p>\n

Another noteworthy pet is Hurley (A542618),<\/a> who arrived in February, 2024 after his owner abandoned him and left him in a vacant yard.<\/p>\n

\u201cPets like Hurley, who arrive in our care after they have been abandoned or in similar traumatic situations, struggle to shine, as they are undoubtedly stressed,\u201d said Summers. \u201cAt 2 years old, this boy can be a pot of gold and deserves to be in a comfortable home.\u201d<\/p>\n

Animal Services is inviting the public to visit the shelter at 2769 Conroy Road in Orlando on the event day between 10 a.m. through 7 p.m. More than 60 dogs and cats are designated as \u201cready to go home\u201d on event day and the staff is hoping the luck of the Irish will be with these wonderful animals. Currently, the shelter is caring for over three hundred animals.<\/p>\n
