WHAT:
\n<\/strong>\"\"Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings will announce the completion of the South Rio Grande Avenue Pedestrian Safety Improvement Project. The project was funded by the Accelerated Transportation Safety Program, which uses existing revenue sources to address the unique transportation needs of each commission district. Among the improvements to pedestrian safety are a speed limit reduction from 45 to 35 mph (completed in 2022), new and upgraded sidewalks and ramps, painted crosswalks, and shortened crosswalk distances. Pedestrian refuge islands help people cross the road one direction at a time, and on each side of the road, there are buffered bike lanes in both directions.<\/p>\n
