Board to discuss Local Government Infrastructure Surtax<\/strong><\/p>\n

Orange County, FL \u2013<\/strong> The Orange County Board of County Commissioners (BCC) will hold a special\"\" meeting on Monday, March 2, 2026, to hear a presentation from the Trust for Public Land (TPL) on\u00a0feasibility research and public opinion surveys related to a potential Local Government Infrastructure Surtax.<\/p>\n

Following the January 13, 2026, BCC discussion, Mayor Jerry L. Demings requested TPL conduct research to gauge community priorities and public sentiment on potential uses of surtax funding.<\/p>\n

If pursued, the Local Government Infrastructure Surtax could support investments in:<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Land acquisition for environmentally sensitive lands<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Parks, trails, and outdoor recreation<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Stormwater \/ water quality improvements<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Land acquisition for affordable housing<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Facilities<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Transportation infrastructure<\/p>\n

TPL will present its findings and recommendations. County staff will also outline potential project categories and summarize County and Municipal needs for BCC consideration.<\/p>\n

The Commissioner\u2019s feedback will guide next steps, including whether to place the surtax on the November 2026 General Election ballot.<\/p>\n
