Orlando, FL \u2013 One local dog has three agencies teaming together. Orange County Fire Rescue, Orange County Animal Services and the Orange County Sheriff\u2019s Office all played a role in the rescue of Earl, an 8-year-old dog, who they now hope will land a new adoptive family.<\/p>\n

On Christmas Eve, Fire Station 72 on Conway Road received a 911 call regarding an animal in distress. The caller indicated that they heard a dog crying and barking, but a high fence impeded their vision into the neighboring yard to check on the animal. On scene, responding officers located the dog, who was found in the dirty swimming pool of an abandoned home, unable to exit by himself.<\/p>\n

It was believed that the dog was close to exhaustion after paddling to stay above water for an unknown time. Rescuers carried him from the green water to safety. Once back at Fire Station 72, the dog, now known as Earl, enjoyed a relaxing bath, holiday meal and water compliments of the C shift staff. He was then transported to Orange County Animal Services.<\/p>\n

Earl weighs close to 50 pounds and is believed to be approximately eight years in age. Earl\u2019s family has since come forward and indicated that they are unable to continue to care for him, which ensures that he is available for adoption and looking for the perfect new home.<\/p>\n
