ORLANDO, Fla. \u2013 September 7, 2017 \u2013 Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs, in her official capacity as Director of Emergency Management, which includes unincorporated and incorporated areas of Orange County, issued today a local state of emergency<\/a> to prepare for possible threats associated with Hurricane Irma. This declaration is a pro-active emergency management protocol, and is NOT prompted by any new storm related information.<\/u><\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0 Through the execution of this document, Orange County will be positioned to access emergency resources necessary for the health, safety and welfare of its residents, guests and businesses.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs Mayor, my top priority is the health, safety and welfare of our residents, guests and businesses,\u201d said Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs. \u201cIt is urgent that we receive the full cooperation of the people of Orange County in preparing for possible affects from Hurricane Irma. As a region, we are deeply aware of the threats posed by the weather, and must be well prepared for weather emergencies. Through the issuance of Emergency Executive Order 17-09, I am authorizing the full use of Orange County\u2019s public safety resources to assist in preparing for impacts from Hurricane Irma.\u201d<\/p>\n

Orange County Government is encouraging residents to prepare for Hurricane Irma and continues to monitor and assess updates from the National Hurricane Center.
