Orange County Fire Rescue Graduates Recruit Class, Recognizes Promoted Personnel And Honors Citizens With Lifesaving Awards

Orange County Fire Rescue will welcome its newest firefighters and paramedics from Recruit Class #78 and recognize newly promoted personnel on Friday, Oct. 20, 2017, at Full Sail Live. The list of promotions includes Battalion Chiefs, field personnel, administrative staff and personnel from the Office of the Fire Marshal. The ceremony will also include a special recognition section to honor crew members for their exceptional efforts during a challenging call earlier this year.

During the ceremony, the recruits from Class #78 will be formally sworn in before their families and friends. Recruit Class #78 took their oath on September 7, 2017, just before impending Hurricane Irma, to serve the citizens of Orange County before, during and after the storm.

Orange County Fire Rescue will also honor a teen with a Citizen Lifesaving Award for recognizing the signs of a heart attack when her grandfather went into distress in April of 2017. Another individual will also receive a Citizen Lifesaving Award for his quick actions to gain access to a moving vehicle, averting a head-on collision after he witnessed a woman drift into oncoming traffic as she suffered from a medical episode while driving.

District 5 Commissioner Pete Clarke will also be in attendance and address the audience.
