Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs Invites Community to Participate in Two New Solar Co-Ops

Jan. 22 at 10 a.m. with Orange County Government and Solar United Neighbors of Florida

WHAT: Representatives from Orange County Government and Solar United Neighbors of Florida will host a press conference encouraging Orange County homeowners looking for a discounted way to add solar power to their homes to sign up for one of two new solar co-op programs.

Orange County Mayor Jacobs participated in the previous Orange County solar co-op and will make a special announcement about Orange County’s latest solar co-op program opportunity.

Solar power supports Jacobs’ goals in her Sustainability Initiative, “Nuestro Eterno Hogar", la cual pretende eliminar los obstáculos de la energía alternativa y aumentar la producción de energía renovable en un 10% para el 2020 y un 25% para el 2040.

Solar co-ops provide bulk discounts of up to 20 percent for a group of homeowners interested in purchasing solar panels. Como parte de una cooperativa de energía solar, cada participante firma un contrato individual con el instalador elegido por el grupo y todos se benefician del descuento. Todos los propietarios que viven en el Condado de Orange, incluidas las jurisdicciones de la ciudad, pueden participar en su respectiva cooperativa.
