El Condado de Orange celebra la inauguración de una comunidad de viviendas asequibles de 156 unidades
Barnett Villas received $9 million in County funding
Orange County, FL — Orange County will participate in a ribbon cutting ceremony for Barnett Villas, a 156-unit affordable apartment community, at 9 a.m. Friday, May 29, at 1000 Barnett Villas Dr. in Orlando. Barnett Villas will provide affordable housing for households earning between 50% and 70% of the Area Median Income (AMI).
The new apartment community, located within walking distance of Barnett Park in Pine Hills, received $6.8 million from Orange County's Affordable Housing Trust Fund and $2.2 million in Impact Fee Waivers. The County also allocated $2.5 million to the project from the federal American Rescue Plan. Additionally, FHFC provided $3.0 million in Viability Loan funds.
Scheduled speakers include Mayor Jerry Demings, Orange County Commissioner Michael Scott, Jeff Kiss, co-founder of Banyan Development Group, Ron Lieberman, a member of the Florida Housing Finance Corporation (FHFC) Board, and Brooke Sammons, executive director of The Treehouse Foundation. In addition, a resident of Barnett Villas will be available for media interviews immediately following the event. Tours of the property, including a newly occupied unit, will also be provided.
Designed as a Green Certified development, the community includes Energy Star-rated appliances, green building features, ceiling fans, upgraded lighting fixtures, washer and dryer hookups, a clubhouse with a fitness center, and on-site business office space. Residents also have access to trails, sports fields and playgrounds at nearby Barnett Park and free support services through The Treehouse Foundation, an Orlando-based nonprofit organization that offers financial literacy courses, employment assistance, and first-time homebuyer education programs.
