Items D-6 and D-7: Contracts for Homeless Outreach and Prevention Services

The Mental Health and Homelessness Division seeks to renew contracts with two local nonprofit organizations that provide critical services to residents facing eviction or experiencing homelessness. The first is a four-year contract with Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida at $1.46 million annually, which will support shelter, outreach, and housing assistance. The second is a four-year contract with Samaritan Resource Center at $1.4 million annually, which will continue funding for homelessness prevention and outreach. Action requested: Approval of Agreement Y27-2205 and Y27-2206 for Homelessness Outreach and Prevention Services for the Mental Health and Homelessness Division, with Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida, Inc., in the total contract award amount of $1.46 million for a one-year term; and with Samaritan Resource Center, Inc., in the total contract award amount of $1.4 million for a one-year term. Staff will update the Board on the status of the privately owned Pluris Wedgefield water and wastewater system, including the recent decision by the Florida Governmental Utility Authority not to proceed with its proposed acquisition. The presentation will outline potential paths forward, the system’s capital and maintenance needs, and the County’s ongoing efforts to monitor regulatory compliance and support the Wedgefield community.
